Sonal Singh Chauhan born on 16 May 1985 is an Indian fashion model and actress. She has won several beauty contests and made her acting debut in the movie Jannat directed by Kunal Deshmukh.
Chauhan was born in muzaffarnagar. Her family hailed from famous Royal Chauhan Rajput of Mainpuri. Her father is a police inspector, and she has one elder brother and two sisters, one younger and one elder. She studied at Delhi Public School in Noida and then Philosophy honors at Gargi College in New Delhi.
Modelling careerShe was crowned as the Miss World Tourism 2005 at Miri, Sarawak state of Malaysia. She is the first Indian to have claimed Miss World Tourism title. She has been a popular model of Delhi, and has appeared in a number of advertisement campaigns in print and electronic media. She appeared in the ads of brands like Ponds and Nokia. She also appeared on the cover page of FHM[citation needed] and The Man magazine. She walked the ramp as show stopper for jewellery brand YS18 at the India International Jewelry Week 2011.
She first appeared on screen in Himesh Reshammiya's album Aap Kaa Surroor. Kunal Deshmukh, director of Jannat, saw her at a restaurant in Mumbai. He asked for her contact number, and in a week she was on the floors shooting. In the movie she was paired opposite Roshan Chauhan. She has walked the ramp for many fashion shows and has modeled in print campaigns for brands like LG, Reliance CDMA, Hero Honda Passion, Nokia, Hindustan Times, Delhi Times, and many more.
Soon after Jannat was released, V N Aditya called her after seeing her portfolio through her agent. Impressed by her, he signed her for Telugu movie Rainbow opposite Rahul. She is also acting in a Kannada movie Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu with Shivrajkumar,which is shot in 7 wonders of the world. In May–June 2012 she and Neil Nitin Mukesh were in Fiji for the shooting of their up-coming horror thriller 3G.
Sonal Chauhan, the girl who set fire on screen with Emraan Hashmi in Jannat is ready to make her debut in Sandalwood. Yes, she is the latest addition to the list of actresses migrating to South India when their Bollywood dreams are less than rosy. But Bollywood"s loss is Sandalwood's gain.
This hot model-turned-actress is cast opposite hat-trick hero Shivaraj Kumar in Cheluveye Ninna Nodalu, which will be launched on December 8th. The seven wonders of the world will be captured in the movie.
Now, the good news is that Sonal is not totally out of Bollywood. Apparently, Mukesh Bhatt has signed her for Raaz 2, the sequel to the super hit film Raaz which featured Bipasha Basu. She has also signed a three film deal with Vishesh films. Moreover, she will be making her debut in Telugu with Rainbow. So currently, this upcoming starlet has everything going well in three different film industries.
Sonal, who has been modeling for two years, has done several ramp shows and also grabbed advertisements of famous brands. Her name was dragged into gossip columns when it was reported that her boy friend slapped her publicly. All this should only make her Kannada debut more interesting to watch.
Sonal's debut appearance was in the Hindi album, Aap Ka Surroor by Himesh Reshammiya.
