Yami Gautam is an Indian film actress, television actress and model. Her earlier appearances were on Indian television commercials and serials like Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, Chand Ke Paar Chalo etc. She then appeared in Kannada, Telugu and Punjabi films. She was then starred in the 2012 blockbuster, Hindi film, Vicky Donor marking her debut in Bollywood.
Yami Gautam was born in Chandigarh. Her father Mukesh Gautam is Vice President in PTC Punjabi channel of PTC Network. Following her schooling she wanted to study further to become an IAS officer, but chose acting instead.
She said in an interview that "my uncle gave my photographs to a production house and I received an offer to do a teleserial".
Gautam was 20 when she moved to Mumbai. She made her debut on television with Chand Ke Paar Chalo, after which she played her most notable role in Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam[2] aired on Colors. She was last seen as a Television actress in Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam after which she moved on to feature films.
She essayed the lead role in the Kannada film Ullasa Utsaha. Then she also participated in the reality show Meethi Choori No.1 on NDTV Imagine.
Her debut movie was in Kannada with co-star Ganesh in Ullasa Utsaha In 2010, In 2011 she made her debut in Telugu cinema in Ravi Babu's Nuvvila, followed by the Punjabi film Ek Noor playing the older version of Rabiha.
She has made her Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor where she's cast opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.
She plays the role of a Bengali girl who falls in love with a Punjabi boy. The movie was a commercial success, and has also received critical appreciation.
In 2012, she was featured on the cover page of Prevention (magazine) and Wedding Affair which discussed about her life and personality and also about her interest in Hot yoga

Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam to pair up for cross border love.Ali Zafar is all set to make sure his foot in Bollywood is set for good. He will be pairing up with Yami Gautam for a romantic film which is tentatively titled as Aman Ki Asha. The story is said to revolve around one of the most loved topics when it comes to love stories, a cross border romance between a Pakistani boy and an Indian girl.Director E Niwas confirmed the news, and said that indeed he is making a love story, starring Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam. “The film’s title is tentatively Aman Ki Asha but we are still looking out for more titles. It should probably release by March 2013, depending on how things go from here,” he stated.
